“I need to take my pants ofF as soon as I get home. I didn’t used to have to do that, but now I do.” - Tina Fey
I live in Los Angeles.
Tacos are my favorite food, followed by peanut butter.
If you make me laugh I will follow you anywhere…seriously I’m a total weirdo.
Liz Lemon and Susie Myerson from Mrs. Maisel are pretty much me in a nutshell.
Mary Kay Holmes grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BA in Theatrical Design. After several years of working in various capacities in the film industry, Mary Kay developed a photography-based mobile app and began blogging for several websites. Recently, she has been published in Every Day Fiction, Slackjaw, and Spoonie Press. Through classes at Writing Pad, UCLA, Masterclass, Roadmap, and Harvard she has studied the art of researching and writing while completing her first four novels. In the last two years, Mary Kay had pilot scripts placed in the top five in the Big Break Screenwriting Contest, the top three at Cinequest, and among the finalists of Screencraft. In 2022 she also started a successful Hall and Oates podcast with an anthropologist friend where the two examine the world through the music, and pop culture surrounding, Hall and Oates. In addition to Barbarians of Rhythm, and an ongoing collection of dark short stories and scripts, she has also recently completed an LGBTQIA+ historical SciFi based on the life of Jesus Christ and is working on a creative nonfiction book about life with multiple chronic illnesses. Barbarians of Rhythm marries two of Mary Kay’s favorite things, her deep love of television and film with her fascination with true crime and the psychology of cults. In her spare time, Mary Kay loves attending concerts and music festivals, as well as live stand-up comedy at fabulous venues like Largo in Los Angeles.
